We have some fantastic beaches in County Waterford so here are some of our favourites:
Woodstown
Woodstown beach runs for miles along the Western shore of Waterford. It is a great place for swimming when the tide is in. It is also popular for long walks, picnics and it is rich in sea shells.
Dunmore East
The main beach, Councillors Strand is great for swimming and snorkelling. The beach is divided into two by a rocky area. The beach is Patrolled by lifeguards, with public toilets and carpark.
Tramore – main beach
A 5k beach with Life Guards & Blue Flag. This is sandy beach is very safe for swimming as it is shallow for distance especially when the tide is in. Tramore is also the safest beach for surfing beginners. A wander down the Sand Dunes is a must.
The Guillamene
The Guillamene is located on the west side of Tramore bay in sunny south-east of Ireland. There are two sets of steps leading down into the water and a few jump off spots. It is a beautiful location with views of the main beach, across the bay, out to sea and the Metalman. Children would need to be supervised.
Ballyscanlon
Quiet freshwater lake near a wood – adult supervision required
Copper Coast
Kilfarrasy, Annestown, Boatstrand – Blue Flag, Bonmahon, Stradbally
Clonea
Clonea Strand is a Blue Flag Beach and has lifeguard services.
Ardmore
Ardmore beach is mile long. There are 2 Green Flag beaches nearby at Ballyquin & Goat Island.
