Invest in small tools that the kids can use, they can dig alongside you then
Take out a magnifying glass to see how many worms, etc. they can spot
"Bulb races", see whose bulb grows the fastest and flowers first
Let each child have their own patch where they can sow seeds of their own
Sow your child's name in seeds, e.g. pansies. You can buy some flower packets that give you the tape to mark out their name and the seeds go on the tape.
Kids adore watering! Get the wellies on, hand over the watering can and/or hose and let them go...
Watching the sunflowers or beans grow taller, measuring them every week
Plant butterfly friendly flowers
Show them which plants are weeds and get them weeding
Planting things to eat, e.g. cress, rocket leaves, vegetables
Try plants that come in surprising colors, e.g. purple carrots, striped beets, 'Easter egg' radishes.
Finish a gardening session with a good snack which will help leave a positive memory for next time.
