Who knew Galway had so many playgrounds? We commend the City and County Councils (and any other organisations that have campaigned) for the variety of playgrounds available. We have teamed up with Go Play, Ireland’s premier provider of public playgrounds and safety surfacing, for a special campaign this year to encourage everyone to keep active!  Each month we'll pick a playground to feature and we'd love to hear from you once you've visited the playground yourselves, what did you like about it, any improvements, etc. do get in touch!

Playground of the Month
Monivea Playground

Monivea Playground

It is located at the the junction in Monivea, behind the castle and beside the Garda Station. There is a small car park beside the playground (approx 6 cars). The playground is on a small area, but has a lot of equipment which is laid out to take best use of the space.
The playground is enclosed by a fence and has a gate on one side (in to the car park).

There are 2 climbing structures, one in shape of a tractor for youngers kids, and a taller one for the older children.

There are three different types of swings: Toddler, Nest & Regular to keep every age happily swinging.

For the younger children there are a variety of bouncy horses, and a see saw. The older children will enjoy the large spinning circle, they can walk, run or sit on it (and get some one to push them)!

Monivea playground is a short drive from Athenry, and is well worth a visit.
